ABC Center Inaugurated in Padinjarathara

Extreme vigilance required in Grama Panchayaths regarding stray dog issues - Minister K.M. Shaji

Padinjarathara Animal Birth Control (ABC) Center has been dedicated to the public by Local Self-Government Department Minister K.M. Shaji.

The Minister stated that extreme vigilance is necessary in Grama Panchayaths regarding the stray dog issue. Even children going to school from home are falling victim to stray dog attacks. He pointed out that the stray dog menace and their survival pose a major challenge to the local self-government department. The government is aware that abandoning pets irresponsibly on the streets has become widespread in the state, with Kerala currently having twice as many pet dogs as stray dogs. Most stray dogs are born from litters abandoned by pet owners.

As part of the Aspirational District Programme, the Minister distributed awards to institutions and employees who showed exceptional performance in the foot-and-mouth disease vaccination campaign, jerseys to beneficiaries of the Kudumbashree Mission's "Dheeram" self-defense training project, and sports kits to women cricket players. MLA Usha Vijayan inaugurated the operation theatre at the ABC center. District Panchayath President Chandrika Krishnan served as the chief guest.

Mananthavady Block Panchayath President Meenakshi Raman, Mananthavady Municipality Chairperson Jacob Sebastian, various Grama Panchayath Presidents, public representatives, political party representatives, and officials attended the event.
